Client's Success Stories
Freddie:
"Hello my name is Freddie. I am a patient at Genesis Counseling Services. I am writing this letter to express my views on how Genesis has helped me. I’ve been attending Genesis for 3 years now give or take a month or two. I like to keep excellent attendance, but with all the things I’ve got going on in my life right now it’s very hard to do. I really want to say how much I love going there to see my therapist, whom I would like to share her name but I’d rather reserve that for confidential reasons. It’s only because I respect their policies where everything has been kept confidential between her and I. Going there has helped me in many many ways, mainly my therapist has helped, but everyone there has also chipped in. I would like to also credit the staff for being kind and respectful to me and from what I’ve seen everyone else is treated the same. I really like that because I am all about equality and fairness, and at Genesis I see that behavior every time I’m in the office. I love going there because it’s the only place I have to go and speak with another human being that doesn’t judge me, listens to me, and give me good advice. As soon as you walk in the door you feel welcome and feel good about yourself just being in that environment. The staff always says good morning and welcomes you with a big smile. I highly recommend Genesis to all people from every walk of life, because it is a place where you get the help you need if you want and you’re treated well."
Jack:
"I welcome this opportunity to share my experience with addiction. I lost ten years of my life to this disease. I was despondent, confused, and a physical disgrace. My numerous attempts to stop by myself all discouragingly failed. This disease continually thwarted my best inentions to stop. Fortunately, if you will, I had a DWI and was placed in a first offender program at Genesis Counseling Services. This is when my recovery began and I got my life back. I now have self-esteem I never had before. My energy level, and physical shape followed suite, and my eyes and faces have life in them again. I had to be taught how to relive my life and avoid the triggers that made me drink. Education, understanding, and compassion were the vital ingredients to recovery. Sobriety, for me, was two steps: stopping bad habits and most importantly maintenance. I learned how to identify my triggers, understand tehm, and learn how to treat them when they would pop up. Adopting this lifestyle will help me for the rest of my life, but stopping doesn't mean I'm cured. I know with absolute certainty that without follow-up counseling I would not be here writing this today. I found the expertise of Genesis in every phase of my recovery unsurpassed. This deadly disease comes with a high I.Q. and takes a lot to decipher. Life isn't perfect, but I know now how to live. I am blessed and grateful to have found the help of Genesis and am proud to be a recovering alcoholic."
